Freedom Twice Lost is getting the attention it deserves. Flashed several times on CSPAN under series books interview with James Allen Jr, it deals with wrongfully imposed death penalties. This book was one of the first to lash out at the legal system and its ineptness. I remember going to an interview with Las Vegas Public radio and discussing the book at length. Apparently, I ruffled too many attorneys, judges and prosecutors and the interview never aired. No one wants to think they made a grave mistake, one so bad that they locked an innocent man on death row for 14 years. Finally, the truth came out and Roberto MIranda was set free but never exonerated. Shortly after his release, he suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed, but his mind remained in tack until his dying day. A heartbreaking read it is mandatory if anyone is thinking of practicing the sacred art of law.
