Roberto Miranda sat on Nevada's Death Row for 14 years before he was released. It was before the Innocence Project and before intense DNA. A Spanish speaker, he sat and waited for his life to be whisked away without a morsel of a fair trial. It was Laura Fitzsimmons, an attorney in Reno, who finally caught the court's attention and released him. But Roberto was never exonerated. The case captured Jerry Spence's attention, and he sued Clark County for $14 million, one for each year of wrongful incarceration. The case settled for $6 million. Roberto went into hiding. The murderer was still roaming Las Vegas and Roberto feared for his life. Never has there been such a poignant, true and moving story. A great true unbelievable and tragic read.
